blogger vs wordpress

im sure someone else has brought this up, so feel free to link my to another thread.

How does wordpress compare with blogger? I'm thinking of switching. What are the benefits of wordpress over blogger? What are its weaknesses?

I just had this debate with myself this past week as I wanted to launch a 2nd blog to expand my writing topics.

First off I assume that you are looking at free hosting given your current sig .blogspot addresses.

If so I ended up deciding to go with blogger over wordpress basis on the fact that blog makes it easy to try to monitize your site, while this is against the WP TOS.

In addition I found with a free WP site you didn't have access to all of the great plugins available for it.

So in this case I think that blogger is better than WP.

However, if you wanted to pay money for your own hosting I think that WP maybe the better options since you can monitize it their and have access to all of the plugins.

Yeah, I did start a WP account just to sort of play around and see how it felt.

I'm not too worried about monetizing because one blog is somewhat religious in nature, so I wouldn't feel right making money of it. The other is a humor blog, and I'm not planning on monetizing because it's just not that big.

WP seemed like it was more customizable in some ways, but less in others. For example, the themes seem a little more polished and showed greater variety, but I also noticed the relative lack of plugins.

Based on what you've said, and my own toying around with it, I think Blogger is going to serve my needs better at the moment. Thank you very much for the info. If anyone has any more input, let me know. I may still be swayed =P
