You have to write content that opens the door to debate. You could also add "What do you think?" or What are your thoughts?", which will prompt your readers to take action. Additionally, many times when you write a post people feel there isn't much more to be said. Comments aren't necessarily a measure of success. |

Indeed asking questions of your readers is a great way to comment. People tend to read to get information and then move on. You need to actively involve your readers in some way in order to get them to comment. Adding polls is another way to get audience participation. Try to be controversial sometimes with an opinion you know others are going to disagree with.

In most niches, being controversial is the best way to open the door to comments. But that doesn't mean comments are important. If you're running a blog about recipes, it's not the easiest of niches to get discussion flowing. And most of the time, you'd be better served focusing on increasing your number of subscribers and getting opt-ins. This is where the long term growth of any blog comes from. If you're determined to get comments, and you're writing a blog related to recipes, maybe you could ask people to submit photos of their own versions of it? Their thoughts on what could change in the recipe, cheaper ingredients... A nice way to get comments is to display the last x number of repliers on the homepage (or all-time most active), along with a link to their homepage. It's a nice incentive. |

I used to have a Blog which have quite a number of comments but I forgot to reply... This gave a bad impression...thus nowadays people don't leave any comment..

Market your blog in momblogger circles - they love to give comments There are a bunch of them on BLogFrog, BlogHer and they are having a big blop hop party this week with the hashtag UBP11... I have found that the online "mom" community is unusually supportive.
