Honestly, I think loading speed for a blog is very important. You should pay attention on your blog loading speed and make sure it doesn't load forever especially for low speed internet connection.

It can definitely turn people away from your blog if it takes forever to load. Too many addons, widgets, ads, and/or large images are usually the biggest causes.

Yeah it can be really annoying...every 3ed peron won`t wait for even loading to finish. And if it`s not only the homepage problem, you are doomed. EDIT: Good thing to avoid this is with java image loader. It will load the page (text, css) but pictures will we load after with nice fade effect. The number one culprit (especially those who have a self-hosted blog) I think would be cheap web hosting. New bloggers make this mistake of compromising the blog speed for something that is cheap. If only they can understand that blog loading speed is important.

| Wouldn't that cause a problem with those people who do not support java and block it?

Slow blogs can sometimes be very annoying, it can be many reasons, it can be either the things you use on your site or external factors like too much traffic... I find that the hosting that you are using is very important, when your site grows you also tend to use more plugins and other scripts. I was once suspended by one of the hosting company for using too much resources on their servers, one thing I don't like about shared hosting is that when you drive too much traffic to your website they also suspends you which creates a whole lot of inconvenience. It is good to find out exactly what is causing a slow response on your website, because I didn't realize this until the hosting company suddenly suspends my hosting account. As far as I am concern I stop hosting with that company and getting shut down really sucks! |

| I think they will get a browser error and will be able to install java automatically... and i think the number of people with not installed java is minimal, so there is nothing to worry about.

yes, thats a good point, but I can see advantages too. if u have a slow loading blog, but adverts/adsense loads first, it may lead to users click these ads more often. i dont know if that are against the rules, so I dont recommend it.. but I am fairly certain that most adverts are designed in a way that they are the first thing to load on pages anyway. my preference is to not clog up a blog to make it slow anyway :-) not sure how much of a concern it is to take this day and age though.. |
