Chats With The Dead is on a distinguished road
Default RSS Feed

I'm really new to blogging and I'm trying to set it up on all levels. I'm not really computer savvy aand don't understand exactly how some things work. I've been doing some research and have read that a RSS feed is good to bring traffic to your blog. I tried setting up an account with feed burner but I'm not sure if I did it correctly or what to do after. Any help please?

I'm even more confused to RSS than you! I just don't get it!

I think I have a RSS on my blog but only because it's automatic with wordpress?

Oh I don't know

Have you read up on the basics of how users subscribe to RSS feeds? Once you have your feed's url from Feedburner (available in your feed details) you can add that link to your blog in any way and let users easily subscribe to your updates. It can be as simple as a basic text link or it could be a fancy RSS icon. It's up to you.

The publicize tab in Feedburner also gives you some options for showing off your feed, including allowing users to subscribe via email.

If you have any more specific questions, let me know and I can help.

RSS is a standard format for syndicating content on the Internet. The content can be anything! Often information contained in an RSS feed is syndicated on other sites which expands its reach.

Website visitors love RSS because they choose which feeds they wish to subscribe to, if at any point they are unhapy with the content contained in the RSS feed they simply unsubscribe and no longer receive notification of feed updates.

RSS is really a win, win for both subscribers and publishers.

In order to get a better understanding of how RSS works download an RSS reader or use a web aggregator and subscribe to an RSS feed (they are usually indicated by a small orange icon).

The easiest way to create an RSS feed is to use software. The software I would recommend is FeedForAll (there is a Windows and a Mac version). There is a built-in wizard that will walk you through the process of creating a feed.

You can download an evaluation version from Create RSS Feeds, Edit and Publish News Feeds with Software

If you prefer to create the feed by hand this website details how to hand code the RSS feed Make RSS Feeds

Best of luck!
