Hi, I started my blog about 2 months ago, I have only just added a stat counter to the blog as I didn't want to be disappointed on start up. Today was my first full day of figures so far 156 (10.30pm) is this good? I'm fairly happy with it, I have been linking to a lot of sites I visit. What sort of figures are people achieving or is that too vague a question |

I definitely remember what my numbers were two months into blogging. Definitely time helps makes a blog grow (with fresh, great content). But what I can tell you is that a stat counter should be removed from your blog. It provides you with no true analytics. Try installing an analytics program like sitemeter.com or google analytics. A hit just means that your website was accessed, but if one person opens and closes a page several times, that is multiple hits. That is not nearly as helpful information as figuring out how many daily unique visitors you have. Good luck! At 150 hits you are getting some traffic, and it's a fine start for a blog 8 weeks old. If you install google analytics you can use their "benchmarking" tool also to see where you should be for your category of blog.

@Senior - I was just taking a more careful look at your blog. You really look like you are well on your way, heading in the right direction towards success. You look like you love your content. What great photos of the kitchens! Where did you find those? I enjoyed the link of the 1940s woodworking - I emailed it to my bf who is in construction. He'll get a kick out of it. My advice is always the same: Spend 80% of your time creating great content, and 20% of your time marketing it. I know I wish I hadn't waited 15 months into the blog before creating a Facebook page for it. Start looking at ways that you can effectively use social media/ forum commenting/ or other means of marketing your blog. Everyone is different in what they like to use to market their blogs. I've been using Twitter, but use what you like.

The kitchens are ours, we are a bespoke kitchen and cabinet making company, it worries me a bit that you didn't realise this. Have I missed the main point of my blog?

Suggestion, remove the counter, add Google Analytics. Also, it doesn't really matter. Focus on your work and in time, if you're persistent enough, you'll get results.
