Default Template and Subheadings Help!

Hey everyone, I've recently started my own blog! I've done the basics and stuff, but want to give it a more professional feel! For instance, I'd wanna sub headings or sublinks at the top of my page to differentiate between the videos that I'm posting. But for some reason I can only do that for the right side.

Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated!

Houston, we have a big problem here.

Sorry New_Blogger, I went to your site. And I have to say to you, I immediately left your site. When I touch down and the first thing I see above the fold is a sales pitch for Amazon Associates, I get turned off. My question for you is very simple -- who are you blogging for? Amazon and Google, or your viewers?

Sorry to be so rough, but you are off to a bad start in this bloggers opinion.

I agree with bkpkgene. It's going to be very difficult to get any regular readers when the first thing they see is a huge row of amazon affiliate banners. They aren't even related to football. If you absolutely want to include these, stick them in the sidebar in a non-intrusive spot on your sidebar while you work on developing good content for your readers.

All I see are embedded youtube clips. Are you planning to add any humorous captions, analysis, or something else that might compel people to stay on your site? They could easily just subscribe to a youtube channel that focuses on football clips. You should work on thinking of something really unique to offer people.

I also suspect most of these videos are actually infringing on TV copyrights, and they usually get pulled off of youtube pretty fast. Do you look for videos that have been legally posted on youtube?

For your question, you can drag a gadget on top of the content I believe, so you should be able to make a navigation bar. I'm no expert on Blogger, though, so you might want to Google it. You should be able to find some good tutorials.

Ack. I should have answered the question and I failed to.

In Blogger, go to Design screen and you wlll be shown a layout of what goes where on your page. If you want to add a gadget somewhere, you click the Add Gadget link in the section of the page you want to address.

For pages, what you do is goto Posting --> Add New Page. You make the page and save it. Then, go back to Design and click on the nav bar Add Gadgets link. You want to add the gadget Pages. It will open and show you a list of your pages, you select the pages you want, voila! You have a menu of pages on the nav bar.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your constructive responses people. Appreciated.

As for the amazon links, you're right, I wouldn't go on a site like that, so I moved them all to the bottom, where it's much less intrusive. The idea behind my blog is to basically have an archive of amazing goals, skills etc in one place.

I didn't see your blog when the ads were at the top, but I agree that it was a good idea to move them down. Remember, even if you want to make money with your blog, content is still the most important part. People will go to your blog for good content, but not for ads.

I recommend that you do some work on the template. You don't need to know HTML or anything, but you could make some big improvements with the template designer, such as changing the background color/image, link and title colors, and adding a custom header image. It seems as though everyone is using your same template these days and it would be nice to see something a little more unique.

Hey! Just done what you said, and now have sub pages, but how do I move the content from the main page to the relevant categories? Seem a bit stuck!
