Default Email Spam

I have a contact form on my blog for people to contact me. I'm thinking of setting up a contact details page on my blog with showing my email address, however I'm worried about getting a lot of spam if I publish my email addresses. Is it better to publish my email address or just have a simple contact form?

It's up to you really. If you're going to publish your email address, then there are ways to prevent a lot of automated spam. For example, you could write it out as quirkyjessi AT gmail DOT com because it won't be immediately recognized and pulled into systems as being an email address. Also, you could create an image like this:

Real people can read that just fine, but a robot does not.

If there is a message option on your blog site then it would be best to use that. The best thing to do if you publish your email is to use something like GMail or Yahoo. You can just leave these accounts behind if they get spammed. Also, how about setting up an instant messenger account? You can't really be spammed on the actual messenging program, and you can block and/or report people if the need arises.
