Thumbs up WordPress tip - adding more text widgets

Hi bloggers !

I just found a great tip and thought I'd share it here.

In WordPress, we only have 9 text widgets for the sidebars... way too little for me ! So I looked everywhere for a way to add more text widgets and found this :

How Can I have more text widgets in my template

I followed the simple php editing and it worked great. So far the best method I've seen !

Happy blogging !

Looks a nice simple thing to do. Problem though is that you need to do it every time you update wordpress.

If your happy enough to edit the php for this file though it might just be simpler to create your own custom widgets file. I have all my own little widgets in a file called <em>widgies.php</em>. Which also allows me to control which pages the widgets are viewed on if I wish.

There is a plugin that allows you to duplicate widgets.

Now that would be handy as that's the only problem I have with the widgets. I can only add to one sidebar. I can set my own widgets to only load on certain pages/posts/home and stuff, but if I use someone else's I'm stuck with it everywhere
