Default How may hits do you get?

Just curious to see about how many hits is average for a blog that is just getting started. Mine has been up for about 5 days and has received over 1,000,000 hits already. (by 1,000,000 I mean 6) Let me know. Thanks.

By hits do you mean unique visitors? Our new blog gets a few hundred visitors per day, almost 1000 yesterday due to a bit of promotion.

Default Increasing Blog Traffic and Hits

I don't know how many uniques we get a day for sure as AW stats found in CPANEL and statcounter.com give two different results. Definately a few hundred unique visitors a day at least with around 1000 page views for the dir, the forum jumps all over and the reviews is obviously less.

Scott's website gets alot of traffic because it has AWESOME content that I personally read every day or two and I"m sure many others do as well. Also he and his partner have proven themselves as experts because they have already achieved what they are teaching.

Basically they are telling the world what they've done. People like listening to this kind of advice from people who have made it. Too many blogs regarding online financial success tell the world what they are going to do or what they could do. People like helpful information from people that are respected in their field. That's why Self Made Minds is doing well now and I can only see it increasing in popularity as more people become exposed to it. That's my $0.02 atleast

Thanks Rob!

We frequent a few forums so that can be a good way to attract visitors, I submitted a press release when I started the blog which takes a while to filter through results but does help with backlinks.

I also submitted my press release to Entreprenuer which was featured in their blog which threw quite a few visitors. Depends on who you are targetting.

I have also sent out about 50 emails letting other people with popular blogs in the same genre know about our new blog in case it may be of interest to their readership. There is no point in starting to promote your blog until you maybe have 10 really good posts as you'll only get one crack at getting someone ot look over your site and bookmark it.

Default Tracking your website or blog's traffic, hits, uniques etc...

I'd recommend www.statcounter.com

It provides more accurate information then AW-Stats in cPanel. Some of the traffic information it has is, recently searched keywords, keyword analysis, came from, recent came from, return visitors, search engine wars, popular pages, entry pages, exit pages, visitor activity, visitor map, visitor paths etc... Try it for yourself you'll be happy you did.

If you really want your eyes opened checkout our post on top blog reader numbers if any of us reached the top 100 there I think we would be quite happy. A niche as with any subject matter can often dictate success.

If you talk about one subject you can grow a loyal readership, if you constantly deviate then the readership can become confused and disenfranchised with your whole blog.

Arrow Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to track this information. This program is great because you can track unique vistors, page hits, the geographic location of those hits, and even the web browser they are using.

As for traffic, I barely get 10 hits per day as I have just started placing content on the site (some of these are me viewing the blog as well). I have done some research on ways to market and promote your blog, you can find them here. Good luck!
