Theoretically, yes, it could be a successful concept. I do think that adding your personal thoughts is a good idea, because just posting a quote probably wouldn't be enough to sustain a lot of interest. It will really depend on how interesting/unique/funny your random thoughts are to accompany the quotes. I'd say go for it and see if your content attracts some interest. Also, try a search for other similar blogs and study what they do and how they do it. Once you get yours up and running, post some comments on the others to try to build some relationships.

as long as you can maintain great and relative quotes, it's a win.

There are a lot of twitter profiles doing a quote of the day kind of thing - That's perfect for those that think they're "micro blogging". It might work too as a traditional blog, but seems like it would be best with a tie into some social media.

Yes it can certainly work, I've seen many successful ones. The most successful one I can think of is called the positivity blog or something similar.

Personally I dont think a quote of the day blog is a good idea. Maybe is you had like a quote, music video, fortune cookie of the day. But I think you should do something a little more interesting. Write about something that happened to you, or make up a story, or just give your opinion on something that happens every day. I have a blog that's more like a story, but it's the true story of how I met my husband. It's called "Modern Day Love Tale." The link is on my profile if you want to check it ou.
