Getting comments is all about..

1. The quality of your content

2. Amount of traffic your site gets

3. Engaging readers on your site to leave comments and responding back to them

4. Dont get to caught up in comments, just keep producing good content and marketing your butt off

Just My 2 Cents:

  1. Install the Top Commentors plugin. This will give people incentive to make comments. The top commenters have exposure to their links on the front page in the side widget.
  2. When posting comments on other blogs, try to be very controversial or take a point of view that is the opposite of the main stream. You will definitely get a reaction and potential visitors to your blog.
  3. Also you could use the same controversial approach to your blog posts as well. Voice a strong opinion to one side instead of being neutral, this will have the effect of someone choosing the other side, and then any other visitors are forced to choose sides.
  4. "Any publicity is good publicity" You here this all the time when news refers to people in the spotlight such as actors or actresses. Basically meaning even bad publicity is good, in fact sometimes even better, such as the case in the Paris Hilton videos. This applies to comments on your blogs as well. Many bloggers won't approve comments on their blogs if they feel the comment is unwarranted or if they take offense to it. This is absolutely the wrong thing to do, in fact you want more of these types of comments. They stir up reactions by others and usually create the longest comment threads.

In response to these,

I am usually controversial with my own content. As you might guess from the name of my more political blog, even the name is meant to stir up some thoughts. I post my own views which are controversial in themselves - arguably an unconventional mix of social conservatism and political Third Positionism, with an aversion to neo-conservativism, cultural Marxism, and neo-Trotskyism all wrapped into one.

In fact, my current post, "A Tribute to Ayatollah Khomeini" is rather controversial in itself.

I publish comments that I disagree with and reply to them, however, opposing views have been getting a bit sloppy lately. Where do you make the cutoff point?

What do you mean by that? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "relevant resources". I allow some links in my blog. Links in the name (where click on the user's name and it goes to his or her blog) are okay. If I know the person, I might allow some links.

Is your content easy to follow and can attract comments? If you're referring to the blog that shows in your profile at "recent posts", then believe me it's difficult to draw attention to it, even if the content is VERY well written. It's not an easy niche and many of us know nothing about it. This is why you might get little comments, I couldn't add anything there myself, because I know nothing about the topic. The blog does look super OK, so I can't blame anything else.

I was under the impression that if you had good content, comments and followers and all that takes care of itself.
