I have only been here a short while, but I can't help notice how many posts just a few months old have links to blogs that are no longer there. Do people just give up?

| Some people are impatient and want results this instant. Others find that blogging isn't really for them. Some people sell blogs to new owners who do nothing with them...it's a sad market *sigh*

If you look at Technorati listings, something like 95% of their blogs haven't been updated within the past year; so yeah, a lot of people give up. Basically what this means is that you either have to be very stubborn, or qualify in the top 5% of people who start blogs to succeed blogging.

To really use twitter effectively, it takes a lot of work, and it is very slow. It is not a place to spam links. But people here think that if they use twitter that they'll register and suddenly hundreds of people, if not thousands will come follow them and all will be great. And then they give up really quickly when it doesn't work out like that!

I started a blog a few years ago and was really excited when I started. Then I realized I knew nothing about how to get people to my blog and decided to give up. Several years later I'm starting again but actually learning how to make my blog succeed instead of expecting everyone to know about my blog right away. |

I didn't know so many blogs don't succeed! I do know that it takes a lot of time to write something that you research and double-check. Sometimes I wish I had made just ONE blog instead of three. But I'm still working on all of them. One of these days I will put each one inside of my websites. This information really makes me think. It should make everyone who is working on their blogs feel better, because there are so many people out there who are NOT patient. |
