Default The diffierence between the beginner and a professional blogger

I'm obviously no professional blogger. I'm never going to earn a living off my blog. In fact I've only been at this six months. But I stumbled upon this blog article and I like a lot of what this author has to say about blogging - especially when it comes to staying narrowly to one niche.

Blogging is taking over the mainstream in many ways, but this doesn?t mean that the average blogger is the one taking over the media. But what separates a professional blogger from an average blogger? | The Blogging Meta Blog

^ Some very good points. I think even we beginners can benefit from these tips.

Probably the most important paragraph to remember when writing...
Quote:
While average bloggers write about what interests them, professional bloggers write about what interests their target audience. This focus on the reader (instead of the writer) is quite possibly the single most important distinction between a blogger and a professional blogger.
Great link Melody!

Yeah, that is exactly what they do in the news... write what people want to read, not what people need to read.(even if there is only a little white lie involved lol)

Also, keep in mind that an amateur blogger can make just as much money as a professional blogger. You don't need to be a pro writer or whatever to make good money online blogging...

Luckily I'm just trying to be successful rather than professional.

Is there a market for diary type blogs written well? I personally love reading them but I have never come across this type of blog with more than 50 to 100 followers.

The only way I can see that type of blog being successful is if you have a REALLY interesting life... or an adult-themed one.

Maybe do a romance novelette-type fictional blog(or diary) documenting "whoever" and their escapades. Make sure to label it fictional writing, and you can make up whatever you want. If you go to wally-mart or other type of chain store, romance novels have entire walls full of books. There must be a market there for you.
You can create new pages for each novel series, and string them along as your inspiration allows.

for an example of how you could layout the different novelettes in tabs, check out my layout here : Secret Basket of Eggs
each tab is its own category, but for you make each tab its own series. You can do some for women, men, kids, or whatever.

whatcha tink?

Thanks Melody for the website. I don't know if I would want to be a professional blogger, I have a hard time writing about things that I have thought about without trying to figure out what others may want to read about.......oh well.....I guess I shall just be happy blogging along.

your attitude is totally wrong if you want to make money blogging! How are you going to make money blogging when you start off saying "I'm never going to earn a living off my blog." ?

Yikes..

My blog is only 5 months old and I've already made about $80!
