I like blogging because it's fun. Trying to increase your site's ranking and mocking it up in your friends makes it even better. You will become known in the cyber world if you became a successful blogger. Cons?Uhmm... needs time and patience.....

It's fun! It gives me an opportunity for self-expression. It's let me "meet" cool new people online and discuss common interests. It motivates me to practice writing. It's a creative outlet that takes up little space. It's a non-technical creative outlet. It lets me go back and look at some of my online writing instead of losing track of it by just writing in various forums. It serves as a sort of journal, though admittedly a journal that's pretty heavily focused on my hobbies instead of my personal life. It reverses some of the "consume" focus of my online time; now I spend some of that time creating. What's not to like... not much. It takes up some time. And I sometimes have to fight the urge to worry about traffic growth. But I just need to periodically remind myself that my goals for my blog have very little to do with high traffic growth. |

As for likes, I agree to most of what is said above. As for dislikes, I think that a lot of bloggers forget to optimize site navigation. So many times I have been into a great article only to click a link and get lost. This is especially true if it happens to be an archived article. Speaking of which, archiving seems like such an innefiecient way to catalog your posts. Archive searching is not something that most people will do if it is not laid out right. The calendar method is a good example of that. Here is an example of a more efficient way to run a blog in my opinion: www.secretbasketofeggs.com Your thoughts? -bryan |

The secretbasketofeggs navigation is confusing me, I'm afraid. It looks like a sort of mixing together of a tags list, and About page, and links to single posts, and a link to a normal blog-style list of many posts, but it's not clear what's what. I prefer the traditional blog format - that is, a list of posts in reverse date order, plus usually a dated archive and a tags list.

Blogging is totally new for me. For the past five years I spent my time building discussion forums. It was starting to get old (and boring) so I gave away a few, am in the process of transferring management of one to a group of people, and have converted my main domain to a blog. I'm not 100% sure what direction I want to take it in, but it will be a funny journey none-the-less. For the like and dislike.... Like.. I will say that trying something new is always fun. Learning how the coding works, what can be done, what can't, etc. Dislike.. Learning how the coding works, what can be done, what can't, etc. :P |

I love blogging because it gives me the chance to write about something I'm passionate about. Whether people read it or not, click my ads or not, I am writing about something I love. It is worth it.

Well, while I'm new to the blogging scene I used to have a great passion for creating magazines and comics when I was younger before other duties came along. Now that I have the time I can see the pleasure out of writing again. The hardest part is keeping the motivation at a high enough pace. *My blog is new so I'm not even sure who's properly following it.......if any *

All you have to do is click the page category, and all related posts are at the bottom... in order and dated. Each tab is a specific topic, with the traditional blog style tab being post updates and generalized topics. try this one: www.secretbasketofeggs.com/stupid-is-stupid-does thanks for the feedback though, every new comment helps me understand the readers mind set more and more. -bryan www.secretbasketofeggs.com Last edited by basketofeggs; March 22nd, 2010 at 03:24 AM.. |

| I Like: - Sharing my experiences. I personally try to find one "WTF" moment in my day to blog about. If its amusing then I try to snap a picture so that I can share it with my readers. - Expressing my opinions. Sometimes people take a topic over the line and I like to express my thoughts. Sometimes I go overboard with what comes out of my mouth, so by blogging about it - I get get my thoughts together and not "bite someones head off" - The fun - Especially when writing about things that amused me, because I know that I will be able to amuse others. - The reflection - I sometimes have so much going on, that I just take it as it comes and when I blog about it, I just write. So when I go back to organize and edit the post, I put things in perspective and I'm able to organize whats in my head. - "The thought dump" - Like the one above, I sometimes just write everything so I can get it out of my head. I like people, but sometimes I don't want to talk to anybody. So when it comes to blogging, I can talk without talking. I Dislike: - That there is not enough time in the day - As a college student, I sometimes find it hard to blog everyday, go to school, go to work, have a social life, study, volunteer in the community etc. - so I often find myself backward dating my posts because I blog at 2/3 o'clock in the morning. |
