Default What is Java Script

Hi everyone I was recently reading an article that talked about Java Script and that you shouldn't use Java Script. The reason the article gave is that SEO's can't crawl through Java Script. I have two questions, What is Java Script, How did it get in my blog. Is Java Script a platform choice, I use Typepad? Thanks in advance.

Javascript is a scripting language. The interpreter is built in to web browsers. It allows you to program a web site to be dynamic. Users have the option of turning off Javascript in their browsers, but most people don't.

If you didn't add Javascript code to your blog or web page, it shouldn't be there (unless you are using a template or something that came with it built in).

In terms of SEO, yes, search engines have troubles with Javascript, so don't put any keywords in a Javascript code block. However, as long as your keywords are outside a Javascript code block you should be okay (assuming you are making SEO efforts to drive traffic to your site). I wouldn't worry about it anyhow; most SEO effects come from outside your site anyhow: links, bookmarking, mention in other blogs, articles, etc.

Thanks Duncan, I went to Wikepedia but the problem with most definitions is that they are still too technical if you don't understand the basics. I appreciate your explanation is was a simple version for people who are\ I asked my platform and they told me that it is not a problem. Since they did the design I think it is just something that they use and they don't want me to get upset Thanks be well

I'd say that JavaScript should only be an issue if the only way to navigate through your site is with JavaScript, or if for some reason the JavaScript is what's actually generating and displaying the content. The first is sometimes true, though it's not good design (there should always be a second navigation method if your primary navigation depends on JavaScript); I think that the second would rarely be true.

The normal use of JavaScript for adjusting the behavior of various interface elements should be fine.

It's possible to shut off JavaScript in pretty much any browser. You could shut it off and make sure that you can still navigate through your site and see your content.
