Does SEO Matter if you have a Niche Blog

Hi Sequence, so if I am undestanding what you are saying when I write a post if I reference another post within that post this then takes the search engine to the previous reference post?

Does this have to be a long sentence or does the second post title should be sufficient to link the two posts?

Here is an example:

"In this post I am going to teach you how to make money online with Google AdSense, affiliate marketing and selling a service."

Lets say you have another post on how to make money with Google AdSense. What you could do is link "how to make money with Google AdSense" to your other post. This is very good for on-page SEO as long as you don't over do it. I would say you could do this 5 times in a single post without too many problems. I would also avoid linking too many words. Anything from 2-7 is OK. When you do this try to think about the keywords you would use if trying to find the post you are linking to on Google.

There is a plugin for Wordpress called Related Posts that will add a link to other posts on your blog that use the same keywords. Here is a screenshot of the plugin in action on one of my blogs:



Below is an example of one of my blog posts. In this example you can see that I am using a heading tag and 2 internal links. This is something you could do on some of the posts on your blog to help with SEO.

Hi Sequence I think that I have figured some of it out. So I will go back and reveiw my posts, not today because it is beautiful out, and see if I can do this. I guess I wouldn't be blogging if I did'nt want readers. Then I could just do a private journal. So I guess I will "saddle up" and start paying more attention to SEO's. That's great Remember a blog is all about the content. As you learn more about SEO you will start to do some of these techniques without even thinking about it so there is no need to spend too much time on it.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that you do anything elaborate. You could probably do quite a bit just by adding more tags to your posts, tags that people are more likely to search for. For example, your post on gossip has tags of:

books, life's paths, weblogs, gifts, gossip, journey

These are either very general ("books") or they're phrases that you use that people won't think to search for ("life's paths"). So they probably won't allow people to find your site.

You could think of what others might search on, that are relevant to your post. For example, if you're discussing whether it's your personal philosophy that gossip is a character flaw, you could have tags of "personal philosophy" and "character flaws". And then you could use those tags in other posts where they're relevant. And "life's paths" might equate to "personal development", so you could add that to the tags of the "life's paths" post. And so on.

if you go to google insights you can see what people are searching for. You can select different category's. If you search in your category for the keywords people use and you place them in your site (make a blog post about it) and you promote it on social bookmark sites. Google wil start finding your site for keywords that people are searching for. So then you create more traffic from google to your site. I got a private blog about making soup. i search on google insights and now i am ranking on the keywords about soup in the top 10 holland. We do the same for my sites in a really competitive niche it is way harder but i still see results.

Hi machuth I will go to google insights and see what keywords I should be using for my blog. I went on a website and it ranked my keywords as poor. So I guess I really need help on defining what is a keyword and then using it in my blog posts. Thanks for the help.
