If you set up the blog first, then realize you can't come up with any good articles, you're toast and you've just wasted your time. The best plan of attack is to get a few good content ideas, even a few rough drafts written, and only then start looking into themes/layouts/widgets. I think that's why he starts off with a "content" post.

Good content is a winner. Darren Rowse make so much money with his blog and we definitely should learn from him.

I actually heard lots of positive things about Darren Rowse. Not to mention, one of his winners before was my professor way back in college, almost 3 years ago. So I can prove that his an expert when it comes to blogging.

I found this link/post to be very helpful as i'm in my first week of blogging. However, for some reason I've been reluctant to add content because I dont have many views/hits. Novice way of thinking I guess.

| How do you plan to get views/hits if you never post? The only way you're going to get people to your blog is by giving them a reason to go - And this is where compelling content comes in.

I'm sorry i wasnt very clear. I obviously published two post. I was just reluctant to had additional content within the first week (I wanted to add a poll).

So I wouldn't do a poll, but I would regularly add content, ideally a post every day, and if that isn't realistic, I'd suggest a minimum of two posts a week for a while. Edited to clarify: You should really keep up a good, reliable posting frequency _forever_, for the life of the blog. I'd advise never letting a week, maximum, go by without a post. But in the beginning, especially, you don't want gaps. When people find your site, you want to have enough content there for them to get an idea of what you have and how good it is. And when Google finds your site, you want there to be something to index. |
