My blog plan

Hi all. I'm going to be starting/working on a blog soon (don't have time at the moment and this is one that will require me to put in a lot of work before I can update daily).

I just thought I'd give you a run down of how I intend to create the website, promote it and (maybe) monetize it. Thought it may give some useful pointers and want to hear your advice.

The blog is about tarot cards.

The global monthly search volume is 7.5million (comparison would be News:124million blog:68million technology: 16million panda: 16million) I used https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal for the data. I'm hoping this may give a perspective on the size of the niche. Would I be correct in saying not tiny?

I intend to host the blog on blogspot and buy a domain through them (this being a budget blog as I may or may not monetize is, but I'm not too keen on a .blogspot.com address)

At the start, the blog will have 45 content pages (to define the meaning of different tarot cards). Each of these pages will be on average 800 words, 3 images. As the blog begins life, I will do a daily post a different reading I've done, that should be around 500 words and an image. I may also do 3-4 videos a week.

So far, I've defined the content of my blog

For promotion, I intend to guest post, possibly once or twice a week. I also intend to leave 2-3 comments per day in my niche.

For the videos, I'll have a youtube account, so that should entice youtube users. I'm considering a twitter account.

I've also read that I should leave modifications of my posts on EzineArticles Submission - Submit Your Best Quality Original Articles For Massive Exposure, Ezine Publishers Get 25 Free Article Reprints (though that would be for the posts that arn't specific readings).

Thus, after 2 months, my blog would have:

Content:

original (45*800) + standard posts (60*500) + additional posts (6*1500) = 75000 words

(3*8) = 24 videos

Guest posts:

Around ten guest posts

Comments:

(60*3.5) = 210 backlinks

That summarises content and promotion vaguely

For monetization, I may include banner ads and amazon affiliation (i'm more focused on getting page hits atm)


So now all that's summarised, what do you guys think? Should I aim for more content, or more detailed content, or do you think these goals are impossible or should I focus on more marketing? What have I completly missed?

I have seen some sites that focus on Tarot cards. Some of them also offer tarot card readings. I think the most famous one I have run across is Tarot.com. They give out what they call Karma Coins, that people can use on readings. I like this idea - they sometimes also have free days where people get free Karma Coins or a free limited reading. Tarot.com offers more than one kind of reading too. I know there are lots of people that like to learn about tarot cards.

I think if I were making a site like this, I would want to put a forum on there or do something that would help people be able to get a tarot card reading on the site. I think you would need to know some programming or hire a programmer to do this though.

My advice to you would be to make the site really interesting, not too busy, easy to find with great keywords, and easy to use. The more unique and interesting content you can put on the site, the better. You are entering a very competitive area, so you need to think how you can zone in on something unusual, like a special KIND of tarot cards or readings. You might even wish to charge people to advertise their tarot services on your site with ads. Just an idea. I wish you lots of luck on the site! Let us know the site address when you get it going.

the main thing is getting a good blog that gets seen alot is to make regualr posts thats what you have to consitrate on as well do you know enough about tarot cards, i am trying to do 2 - 3 posts a day with my new blog.

That sounds pretty well thought out and awesome! Make sure you are keeping that promise to yourself and sticking with the plan though! (minor adjustments along the way)
