So I am new to blogging and am hoping for some advice. I am starting a new project in the coming year involving pics and daily blog entries conneted with the pictures. I was wondering what programme would best suit this project.

If you're a complete newbie I would start with Blogger. It's very simple to use and can give great results. You can also use your own domain name and have it hosted by Blogger. This is probably the best option because it will be easier to transfer your online identity across to a WordPress blog if you decide you want something a little better. I started with Blogger about 5 years ago and still use it because I think it's that user friendly (particularly for someone as untechnical as me).

I would recommend blogger as its the only one I've used and have no experience with anything else. Good luck with your new project!

I use Blogger too, for three different blogs. I found out, though, that in the long run many people say that Wordpress is even better, because you can have lots of good tips for it and it can be more customized to your own site. But I agree with the other posters: it might be easier for you to use Blogger for your first blog. You can easily add many elements to it using the Layout area on your Dashboard there. You can link to Blogger with Flickr, a popular photo site, and it is free, too. You will learn a lot just using the additions on your Layout Area on Blogger, and it is quick and easy to use Blogger too. Good luck with your blog, and be sure to list it here on Bloggeries so we can go see it. |

I use blogger but I don't like most of the themes so I grabbed a wordpress html that was adapted to blogger. just google wordpress theme for blogger. It looks good now. I did have to learn some html to make some changes but if you are going to be a blogger, learning html will is needed.

Blogger is by far easier for someone who is not a "techie" to use, that said, it also looks pretty canned. What are your blogging goals? Do you expect/hope to grow? Wordpress has a more "professional" finished product, but also has a larger learning curve.

As others have said Blogger is the easiest to start out on. However, it is also the hardest to make look professional. If you want to make Blogger look really nice and professional you have to go to a lot of work. However, self-hosted WordPress looks nice from the start but is harder to setup and maintain.

Wordpress.com is definitely the best choice if you're looking for something that looks professional but is very easy to use. If your'e a bit more savvy and want more options, then you can start a self hosted blog using wordpress.org. Hope that helps! David Scribnia.com |

| You can use any blogging platform for featuring your woodcut prints. Just take pictures or scan them in and you should be able to upload the woodcut pictures to any blogging service.
