The only way I can get traffic is if I make comments on other blogs, mostly newspapers and magazine. It’s hard to find high page rank health and Fitness blogs to make comments on. Any advice?

Hi Fitness contrarian, There are several other ways you can get traffic to your blog.
that not only covers the topics I just wrote but also quite a lot more. |

The site looks nice and tidy and well-written and professional. My only criticism is that there isn't much humor or whimsey, but plenty of sites get along without humor or whimsey. I'd guess that part of the problem is that there are a huge number of sites on this subject, and that it's hard to stand out. Is there any niche within the area that appeals to you? I don't know enough about your subject to suggest any, but some examples to demonstrate what I mean could be: - Dietary regimens for vegan athletes in training. - Fitness for the athletically disinclined. (I'd be much more likely to read a blog on that subject than one with all those healthy, athletic people.) - Fitness for the elderly. - Fitness for children. - Basically, fitness for anybody but the young healthy adults that most fitness advice is aimed at. I just did a search on "fitnesss for the clumsy" and turned up a website called _Cranky Fitness_ that looks like a perfect example of what I mean. It's found a niche, it's got humor and whimsey, it looks fun and readable. I'm bookmarking that site and will be back. Searching on "fitness for the unfit" found me very little, at least on the first page. "Fitness for the fat" found _Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy_, which looks interesting, but it's not a blog. "Fitness for the elderly", "fitness for children", and "fitness for vegans" - zillions of sites. So those "niches" may already be too big to be niches. Anyway, I'm rambling on. My idea is that you may need a narrower niche to stand out. I don't think that means that the general posts need to go away, just that you may want to slowly pick one less-general subject after another and reliably produce posts on those subjects, so that people will find you on narrower searches, and so that people linking to other blogs have a specific reason to link to you rather than to the many other fitness bogs out there. As an example, my own blog, which is mostly me babbling about perfume, shows up on the first Google page for searches on reviews of some little-known perfumes, and probably doesn't show up anywhere, or shows up hundreds of pages in, for searches on reviews of well-known perfumes. I'm not making use of this fact, but that's because I'm blogging purely for fun, so I'm going to review whatever perfume takes my fancy. But you are blogging at least partly for business purposes, I think? So maybe you need to actively seek a topic that's equivalent, in your area, to "little known perfumes" in my area. ChickenFreak |

Thanks, great advice. I was thinking the same thing. My fitness topics are all over the place. My goal was to try to cover many different topics and see what readers are interested in and get more into a niche from there, but I’m getting such a small amount of readers I still don t know exactly what direction to go in. I will take your advice and try to find a niche that is not to saturated Plus, thanks for the traffic tips Best - Fitness Contrarian |

Fitness blogging is a very competitive topic... there are plenty of ways to promote your site, but it will take a lot of hard work to reach the top.

You definitely want to narrow down your niche. Try to focus on an area within health & fitness you YOU are most passionate about. Often the more narrow the niche, the better. There will definitely be people out there interested in what you have to say.

Not sure why but traffic is getting better. But still have a page rank of 0. Plus: I known I have some incoming links to my blog but there not showing up. Any idea why? |

Fitness Contrarian: Nice looking blog. Very professional look. Write at least article per day and submit to article directories. Use keywords in your article titles. As subjects for your articles concentrate on your existing sub-categories listed on your blog. Focus for one week on one sub-category. This process will bring you targeted traffic. Robert |
