Wordpress self hosted or blogger, with own domain?

My friend has registered a domain name and he wish to start a blog.He has good experience of blogger but never used wordpress.What should i suggest him? Is it easier to rank in Google with wordpress self hosted blog?Thanks

Ranking in Google depends on the content you write plus many other factors. Since I have a self-hosted wordpress blog, I suggest using WordPress but other people might suggest other blogging software like Blogger. Anyway your friend needs to read some techi posts about blogging basics.

i would say if he is a beginnerish at blogging then i would say blogger with own domain would be the best bet

i think wordpress seems to have better customisation options, looking at people's wordpress blogs they almost always seem to be neater and better presented but maybe thats just my opinion.
I'm using blogger which i feel is more basic..

Theoretically the type of blog should not effect rankings. One thing is for sure, you are not going to be penalized for having a *.blogspot domain name. After all Google's own blog is on Blogger. If anything Google may give *.blogspot blogs a slightly higher ranking.

I would suggest going self hosted right from the start. I started out with a blogspot blog and made the jump to wordpress. It was a lot of work that could of been avoided!

You can get rankings with Blogger.

At some stage though you will want to upgrade. Which means in affect you are starting over.
