widgets are pretty cool although i do find if you have quite a few they can cause a bit of clutter. one or two good ones are worth having though.

Right. On my blog I don't really use any widgets for the main reason that they slow down page load times. I can't stand slow loads. There's no reason why the page load should take 30 seconds, but with many blogs it does take that long or longer because the blog sidebar is loaded up with weird widgets.

If you are not a pro in HTML..better to forget about widgets...just use widgets available online then focus in your blog body!
