Smile Moving from Blogger to Wordpress - made it !

Alright, I made it ! I move my Blogger to Wordpress on my own domain ! There're still a few bugs (mostly I have to install Chinese fonts... yeah, I know, I only have a couple of posts in Chinese !) and fix the fonts that got messed up in the move in the older posts. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought my domain name from BigDaddy (efficient but waaaay to much ads and sale incentive !) and got hosting from Site5. That was the easy part

Installing WP was easy thanks to Filezilla and Fantastico scripts. My main issue was my blogger template actually... and the fact I was totally new with php. That's what took me the longer, learning again all the "basic" little blogger tricks I took for granted : installing the favicon, changing the graphic, making sure the blog is okay with as many screen resolution as I could etc.

Blogger is much more user-friendly at least at first! But Wordpress is really cool and flexible once you can master the basic.

However, I didn't find people very helpful on the Wordpress forum. I must admit I'm quite basic when it comes to website, there're many things I don't know but I can learn, right ? So when you ask a question and right away people send you editing the database, it's quite... interesting !

My biggest problem was to import my Blogger posts. The import function in WP doesn't really work anymore because Google changed its API, so I had to find a way around.

But all in all, a cool experience !

I don't know about Zhu, but I definitely would! But I made the transition from Blogger to WordPress.com to WordPress because by then, I haven't fully grasped the meaning of "hosting your own blog."
