Default What do you consider high/medium/low traffic?

This is a question which I have seen asked in other threads but I have not seen it answered yet. We all talk about getting higher traffic but what is higher traffic? What is low traffic?

The 1,000,000th (1 millionth) most-visited site on Quantcast gets traffic somewhere around 2,000 U.S. visitors a month. If you crack the Top 1 million, I'd say you're getting medium traffic. Below that, low traffic. The No. 100,000th site gets about 12,500 visitors a month. I'd consider that high traffic. I guess it's all subjective, though. I was thinking about trying to do a bell-curve distribution based on the total number of sites on the internet (156 million+), but I'm not good enough at math

Where are you getting your info from, selfhelp? Alexa?

Alexa is known for being very inaccurate. However, it is still perhaps the best measurement that is freely available. I would say that your estimates with regard to low/medium/high traffic are reasonable.

Hi there,

I'm hardly able to give advice as I'm only 3 weeks in to my blogging life, but a friend of mine pointed me to Google Adplanner to get a feel for traffic as well.

It isn't accurate either, but between the two you will get a good idea I guess.

Hmm, I agree that it's rather subjective, but I like the numbers given above. I'd probably bump them up a bit more myself, but it really depends on the sites/niches/etc anyway.

Yeah, the problem with these services is that they can't really know traffic metrics, they can only guess.

Hey nathan, I pulled stats at Quantcast.com:
Quantcast

Might not be 100% accurate, but it's fun to look at. Also, I know that a lot of publishers voluntarily put quantcast scripts on their site, so that they can get more accurate readings. Not sure how it stacks up with Alexa, though...

Hmm... very interesting. It looks as if Quantcast is better than Alexa, but who knows how reliable it really is.

I get about 60 visitors a day at the moment. I guess I'm low traffic then
