If I use wordpress, does that mean I can't put ads up? Can I make my own blog later and just transfer all my stuff from wordpress? I just started blogging, and I'm still trying to increase traffic to my blog.. |

No not at all! Worpress is very useful in the sense that it adds a user interface to your website! Don't think of it as something which can be taken away or which is subject to another companies will. IT IS YOURS. You can and by all means SHOULD put adsense in your wordpress blog.

If you are using free hosted wordpress blog on their server, then no you can't have a commercial blog showing advertising If you pay for your own hosting (from 4 dollars a month) and install your own wordpress blog from the user control panel, you can do whatever you like - as long as it's legal |

There are also hosts who you can set Wordpress ant the like up on for free - just search on Google for a phrase like "free hosting with SQL" and you will see plenty of examples. But you would have to go through them to check the information given is accurate, and check out the reliability of the host indepenently. All you need to pay for is the domain. |

I believe if you switch to Google's Blogger you can immediately put up Google Adsense ads (after you have a bit of content) without paying for a domain/hosting account. Might be a good option for you...

| Good move, hosting your own wordpress blog on your own hosting account Just don't make the same mistake that lots of bloggers make - blogging about lots of unrelated stuff on 1 blog site Set up 1 blog site to post on 1 topic Set up new blog sites using the add-on domain feature of your hosting account to cover other topics you're interested in, that are not directly related to your original blog site That way you have the best chance of getting top search engine rankings and visitor traffic |

Well domain names should only cost around $10.00 so I wouldn't really worry about that. It's the hosting account that can cost a bit more. If you want to set up your own bluehost account it can cost about 150 dollars a year and up. I would imagine that depending on how popular your blog is and how much traffic you would end up getting is going to determine how fast you make this money back. Regards, Jacques |
