I 'think' I have a decent blog and I got a paid host (not a freebie). I have made 2 posts, 3rd will be tonight. I am trying not to post every day - about every 3 days to avoid burnout. My blog is not a 'journal blog' it is a 'how to blog' so there is really no need to do daily posts. How many posts should I do before I start with ads - since my main goal here is to make money? I read somewhere that I should post about 20 before I really get my blog out into the big world. It sounds logical... build content first so the readers have more to look at if they are interested. Am I on the right track? |

If it was me, I would throw up a couple ads now. It will give you time to tweak your layout while you are still building up your blog. Just don't over do it, because your blog is brand new you don't want to turn away any potential readers!

I think you should wait a month before adding adsense I used to put adsense on from day one - but the second last batch of blog sites with adsense I built were all sandboxed - and not likely to appear is Google results pages until about a year old The last batch of blog sites I launched do not have adsense - and they're on Google's results pages and getting traffic - they're almost a month old now and I'm hoping they don't disappear when I add adsense ads |

We all want to make money, and there are other ways to make money with blogs than with just adds. Adds make blogs look cluttered and if there are too many of them I leave before I get a head ache. That being said, it is okay to sell add space on your blog and then for $15 dollars a month or whatever someone can have their 125x125 button on your page. Definitally have Google adsense up from the beginning, however it takes a long time to make even $10 with that. Have your 20 posts, but also have a decent traffic flow coming in. Traffic is key, without viewers you don't have anyone to click your adds anywase.

I put up ads the first week. It worked pretty well for me. Companies like Adsense and Bidvertiser don't have a minimum post requirement. Project Wonderful requires at least 30 quality posts before they will give you an ad.

I'd put them up ASAP. If you're new to trying to make money online, it can be kind of depressing at first. The sooner you start getting clicks, the better you'll feel about all the work you're putting into blogging. I also wouldn't be afraid to place the ads prominently on the site. You've giving away something valuable (your content), and people are interested in it. That means they might be interested in what your advertisers are offering, too (so long as they're related to your content).

I am with you on that one, although I did get a couple up, just seems that the ads have no relation to what my blog is about. ![]() |
