I just checked at spyfu.com - here's your problem

sports videos
$0.44 - $1.17
3 clicks a day
6 advertisers
search results 256,000,000

video production
$0.56 - $1.68
127 clicks a day
20 advertisers
search results 91,300,000

so there you have it - "sports videos" pays less, gets less clicks, and has more competition than "video production"

Default blog sites - where's the fun?

creating a blog site, posting daily, promoting daily is WORK - I don't see any enjoyment in it

I think the 95 percent abandonment rate of blog sites shows that there are lots of people who share my view

Personally I think a blog should be a reflection of the content...

You think just posting other peoples tutorials would be worth it?? Or should I make my own?

Why blog for free? Make money with them. Blogs are a product.

Contrary to some views, I don't think it is necessary to post daily. Many of the blogs which I go back over and over again to read don't post daily. They usually update 2-3 times a week or just weekly.

The ones that get the most readers would be ones who post quality articles, stuff that people would be interested in. And marketing to the right channels of course.

Of course, a blog can serve many purposes. Be it money, the lover of writing, self expression or social interaction (society is becoming less and less social with time, sometimes you have to find a community online instead of offline), a blog serves the purpose of its owner.

So ultimately, its up to you to decide. No one else can.

I started out doing my blogs for fun and learning when I was going back to school as a nontraditional student.

Then I added Adsense to my blogs, and found out that this could pay for the site! I was excited about that. Later, I learned more about it and found out that by doing things like adding keywords and posting more often, I could get more traffic. (And more money from the ads...) But I agree that the ads don't pay a lot. You have to really have mammoth traffic for that.

I wonder if there will ever be a real competitor that offers the kind of ads, tracking system, and training that Google does?

I doubt it. Google has had way too much experience in the field for anyone else to catch up now.
