Your best bet for getting specific information is to ask the questions publicly. You'll get a quick response from other members.

Otherwise, how does anyone know if they can help you or not?

I have my own domain hosted with Blogspot. I'm happy because I don't have to pay for hosting and I never have to worry about my site going down.

here is bloggers help article for changing your domain:

Blogger Help : How do I use a custom domain name on my blog?

I would buy the domain with Godaddy so that if you have any problems you can call for technical help. They're open 24/7 and have helped me a lot.

While it's true you are going all free, you must keep in mind you get what you pay for. It's been quite some time since I've had a blogspot blog, but I have experienced a good deal of downtime when I did.

I've also known a lot of people who had established blogs on blogspot, then one day had there blogs completely deleted by blogger because of questionable TOS violations.

The latter reasons is why I'd never start one on blogspot. Since you don't really own the content you could loose it which would be demoralizing to say the least.
