Thank you for your input and information. It just makes me a little nervous to make the jump. I am thinking of just keeping my domain name and using the blogger layout. I just don't know if I'm shooting myself in the foot with it. I have noticed an increase of traffic and comments since I got the domain name so, I don't know.

If you're building links to the domain name, and not to the blogspot address, then it'll be easier to switch to Wordpress later if you want. You won't lose those links since the domain name will stay the same.
You'll have to make sure that Wordpress' permalinks mimic Bloggers' to avoid losing links to individual posts, but I'm sure that's something others have done and documented somewhere. So I think using a domain name but staying with Blogger is a good interim solution, and much better than using Blogger without a domain name. Jay |

Thanks Jay for these precious informations. I'm still looking into it... but you're helping shifting the balance to freedom
I'M still wondering if it worth the troubles for a simple personal blog... espacially considering I don't know much about hosting and I like my template - not sure how to export it.

The template would be a problem. You'd have to see if someone created a Wordpress theme that looked like the Blogger template.

Mmm... the template is pretty "unique" since I've done it myself. I mean, nothing too fancy but I like it the way it is.

If you have a personal blog, never plan on running ads and already have a standard blogger template customized to the extent you do I'd say stick where you are and in the future register a domain for new projects. It's just if you want to make $$$ people are hesitant to pay for advertising on a blogspot.
You can tell you customized the heck out of your theme Zhuli! |

Still hesitating !
Okay, a few more questions... I'm not too concern about my template cause it's fairly easy to create a new one with Wordpress - I think. I mean, I just started off with Blogger classic theme and added an header, sidebar etc. The graphic are mine and I have them all... so I think (might be wrong !) that I could manage. I created a profile at Wordpress to have a look at the dashboard and all. However, I'm pretty confused about one thing... Blogger is all free, but Wordpress doesn't seem to be. I.e to save a template, I have to buy credit. Are there a lot of paying stuffs on Wordpress ? I mean, saving a template is a blogging basic... Or is it free and I'm confused ??

Wordpress.com is just to get a feel for what Wordpress is like, to see if you would like a blog using it.
What you'll do to setup your own Wordpress blog where you have complete control is to get paid hosting and install Wordpress to it. Most paid hosts have a one click install for Wordpress, or you can download the latest version from Wordpress.org. Wordpress.com is a service that competes with Blogger, while Wordpress.org is the freely available software. Jay |

I think I really want to give it a shot... it's too tempting ! It's gonna be a slow process for me though.
Okay, so far : 1) I signed up with Wordpress.com and imported my blog, just too see 2) I choose a domain name but haven't registered it yet So I'd need to : 1) Buy the domain name 2) Get hosting 3) Build template again 4) Wait for billions of people to comment on my new blog Am I forgetting something here in the process ? About my template... what are the main differences between a blogger and a wordpress template ? I'm planning to pick a nice 3 columns template for Wordpress and add my own header, sidebar graphic etc. like I did for Blogger. Is that possible ? Is it more difficult to do than with Blogger ? With Blogger, I just played with Photoshop and HTML... Thanks for your input !
