Did you design your own blog?

I took a free WP theme and did some heavy tweaking. But not being a CSS or PHP expert found it quite heavy-going. There are lots of things I need to do to improve it - when I get the time and the expertise!

I thought that if you used a template that you couldn't tweak it too much? And that you can't delete the creator name at the bottom of the template. I like my template, but I don't love it. Would love to create my own. Are there any good tutorials online for how to create a WP template?

The theme I started with was designed to allow you to tweak the column position, width, colours, header and so on. That versatility was why I intially had it on two blogs.

As long as you keep their name on it, you can tweak it as much as you want. In my opinion, if you tweak a design to the point where it is almost unrecognizable as being derived from the original, then you shouldn't have to include their names, unless you are using content that is being hosted by the designer.

I did not, I'm not a very patient designer
I did pay someone to design a few of them though

i used blogger theme, and just make a banner that fits to its design..

Obsessing with perfection is how you eventually get a good looking theme.

But if you can buy a good quality one that isn't used by too many other blogs that's also good. Not ideal, but good.

Lol, I agree that obsessing can finally get you a great looking theme, but if that obsession means you end up fiddling with that for hours on end instead of other more important things, then maybe finding someone else's theme is a better option.

I designed my own blog, yes. I still have a lot of work I need/want to do to it that I'm trying to figure out. I might have to pay someone to help me, not sure though!
