Wierd comment spam asking where I live... - Blog Forum

I got a recent comment that was flagged as spam. It asked where I lived and I don't know if people get many spam comments like that? It lead back to a japanese search site. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That's a new one. I would avoid. The last thing I want is spamers knowing where I live. The horror.

The wierdest one I've seen today is comments that list google as their URL with no other links. Quite spammy, but I wonder if they're doing it to get their IP unbanned from akismet.

If in doubt, chuck it out.

Well, I received another comment 2 days ago. Until I find a better way, I'm only allowing people to be able to comment after I approve the first comment on my blog.

Have you checked the IP address? You can block them in WordPress...

You can also block them in your .htaccess file too: Clockwatchers - .htaccess Tutorial - Block An IP Address

This won't allow them on your site at all. Are you familiar with how to access your .htaccess file?

Yes, I know how to block and everything. I just wanted to know if people received weird comments like that.
