I find ad revenue is like waves in an ocean. Sometimes high sometimes low. I'd like to even it out like a lake that is usually full

does it really drive visitors away? I visit hundreds of blogs daily and I have never been driven away by Google ads.

Same here... I find them to be pretty low-key. It sometimes depends on the color scheme, though, but that's an individual thing.

Theres so much talk about earning money blogging but really, none of it is any use unless one knows what the blog is receiving in traffic.

For eg. I havent earnt a cent. Perhaps thats normal for blogs receiving the same traffic as mine? I have no idea (though expecting it is given that my traffic is minimal). If that isnt normal then I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Same goes for if I was earning money, perhaps I started to earn more than the average for the traffic I was receiving. I have no way (that I can tell) of how knowing this either. If so and if I did I could then more confidently help others. It gets a little frustrating.

It's somewhat strange, I haven't really made money through Adsense. In my Google Analytics account it shows that 2 people have clicked on the ads but I haven't made money through it.
The only web site I am making money through is Text-Link-Ads which is pretty cool but the problem is that it takes 50% of your earnings.

I'm made enough on Adsense to receive payment every month since last spring.

In fact, today we past our highest monthly total ever ... and that's with 5 days to go. Must be the spring home reno season.

I have tried others, but they have not done very well at all. I think it depends on your target clientle.

On our site, people know what Google is, trust it, etc. so perhaps that's why it's doing quite well for us.

The first 4 days of April I had ridiulously low adsense earnings ranging from an all-time low of 27 cents to $1.67. After April 16 or so, I seem to be making an average of $3.75 a day which was a bit lower than the $125 a month I was averaging in December and January. I've given up trying to figure adsense out as none of this makes any sense and Google doesn't give a damn. The funny thing is there Analytics with Adsense is a joke and only shows about 20% of the clicks and earnings making it useless. The best advice I can give anyone is just blog as much as you can unless your a niche site with lousy payoffs- mine is a general site and it evens out more. I've gone from about 1400 uniques a day to 3,000 uniques a day- 42,000 a month to 90,000 a month and I was earning more adsense when it was 42,000! I may be getting more sales on my e-commerce sites which my blog promotes. I'm probably netting between $200-$275 a month. A computer business friend said I'd be making $40,000 easily if this was 4 years ago based on my stats. I never make it to the ground floor unfortunately.
