Default Is Entrecard worth it?

I hear that people have had success with it, but I have no idea where to start after I register.

I love Entrecard. My blog is on the 2nd page of the Health category. I get a lot of traffic from it, and have gained new readers. Granted, some of the traffic is just there to drop cards, but some of the traffic reads your blog, subscribes, and comments. It's also a great way to find new blogs to read and learn about blogging.

I was with Entrecard right after it launched and stuck with it for almost a year.

It is fine if you have a new site and are desperate for traffic. Most of the traffic is garbage as people only visit your site to drop cards. You could have a blog full of random characters created when you roll your face over the keyboard, and you'd still get Entrecard traffic so long as you drop on other people's websites.

The bounce rate is horrible which hurts you with Google Adsense.

There is no amount of blogging success which will come in the form of a widget. Period. Go to the blogs of the sites you respect the most and check to see if they have Entrecard. I bet they don't.

I tried it for a while but got fed up with it. No relevant traffic...

I joined Entrecard at first, for the sake of traffic. At first, it did have some encouraging effect in the visiting rate, but just like E'thingE'where said, the bounce off rate is horrible, especially when they're just going for your 'drop' card.

Now, what I treat Entrecard, is more like finding the blogs I'm interested, and read. A blogger friend once told me "that's a good gesture, but many times forgotten" in blogosphere.

From what I learnt, is to be sincere in visiting people's blog. You might get something in return unexpectedly.

Wink Re: Is Entrecard worth it?

I was with Entrecard for about six months and finally decided to quit. The bounce rate was extremely high and the traffic wasn't targeted to my sites niche.
One of the biggest problems is that most people are drive by droppers. They just drop and go to the next site without reading any of your content. That kind of traffic is pretty worthless. On the over hand, I did meet a few very nice friends who still keep in contact, but they have also left Entrecard for similar reasons.

Maybe it's because of my niche that I'm having some success? I mean, yeah, I do get the drive-bys, but I have really gained some readers, and met new people, and it's been a positive experience for me so far. Could it just be because of my niche? I don't know...

It was good for me for first few months then traffic kinda died down. I guess it's good for a new blog but it's been so long since I even checked it out I'm not really one to say much. Do a search for "Entrecard" on the forum here. Lot's of discussion on it.

Health would be a pretty good niche to be in. I haven't visited your site yet to see what you have going on.
What is your drop rate if I may ask?
