Your best tips to increase traffic?

Hi there,
I have just recently begun blogging a little more seriously (at least a post a day).

I tried to post in the "Promote your blog" part, but wasn't allowed to do so. You have to be member for that? Am I allowed to post my blog URL in regular posts like this one (can't find any "signature options")?

Anyway, I'm looking for good advices to increase traffic - which portals are most important to submit the blog to etc.

Thankful for any suggestions

Hi, you can only have the signature option activated once you got 10 posts.
It could be located in your user CP once you hit the target. I think same goes with 'Show Off Your blog'.

Hi I have a few tips,

Commenting on do follow blogs is always great ( high ranking ones that is )
Making an account at hub pages as they allow you to write articles and you could perhaps stick an article relating to your site and leave a link at the bottom.

Also joining squidoo and writing about your site there

I always make sure to ping Technorati when I make a new post.

Write a press release and submit it to free press release sites works. Also, submitting to directories, article marketing, forum sigs, etc.

There are many ways to increase web traffic. You can submit to free directories, paid directories and article directories which are well established that have good pagerank and Alexa rankings.

You can learn some basic SEO to make sure that you understand about what is needed to get top rankings in the search engines. Your title, description, keywords, page content, anchor tags, alt image tags, keywords and keyword phrases are very important. making sure that you web page validates is necessary to make sure that the bots and spiders can crawl your site completely plays a very big part in SEO.

Participating in forums and social networks will deliver good amounts of traffic if you know the rules and how to build your credibility.

It takes time and patience and doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes it takes weeks and even months. So, you need to know what to work on and when to work on it.

On my blog there are many articles which cover such things which are whitehat SEO which are allowed by the search engines. You won't find any blackhat SEO techniques, because they can get you banned from the search engines. If your are building your site for the long haul, you want to build it on a solid foundation using ethical SEO.

Yep, so just stick around and keep posting!

And otherwise, my best advice is to just be patient. Keep creating new content, keep getting the word out there, and don't give up....it takes time for your efforts to really kick in.

Entrecard is good for an initial boost for a new blog, even if you choose not to keep it forever. It gets word out to real people, some of which wil subscribe and kepe coming back regardless of how active you are in the Entrecard community.

Stumbleupon is a nice boost, but it doesn't pay long term to submit your own sites. It's a fine art to master.

Search engines take tme to pick you up, but long term they are the best paying and lowest maintainence traffic.

The way I recommend for increasing traffic is by writing articles and submitting them. Not a lot of traffic to begin with, but it will increase your traffic in the long run.
