One of the most important things that anyone venturing into the world of serious blogging or website development needs to understand is patience.
Patience and Committment are two of the biggest factors in SEO. Without either one frustration and discouragement will set in. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. For more reading on this subject you can view today's posting on my blog at NoviceSEO. Cheers..........Eric

Hi Eric,
Great advice. I'm learning patience with this website... ![]() I was targeting "Blog Forum" as a search term. I was on the first page. Than I did some more optimization and link building and I fell to second page I just couldn't figure it out... A week or so went by and now I'm back on the first page even higher than before. It's a weird game but you have to remember there are 5BILLION+ other websites waiting in line too so you have to be patient. Thanks for the great post, Rob Quote:

Yes, patience.
Sometimes I do get frustrated, but I guess if everything is so simple, then life won't be a challenge anymore. |

I have been working on the patience, and I finally learned that looking at your stats does not help them! LOL I was sooo hooked on my stats, I would check check them 5+ times a day back when I first started, now, a year later, I glance at them once a day or so, and really get into them once a week- patience is a virtue!

Wow! I feel so reassured that I"m not the only person who at one time checked there stats like a maniac. I was so enthralled by them when I first got statcounter that it was part of my morning routine. So nosy as to where my traffic was coming from etc...
You are right though it is a waste of time and you can get angry if you aren't getting enough traffic but your traffic doesn't grow when you are checking your stats! . Now I know generally what my stats are so I check it once or twice a day. (I'm still not out of rehab). I just like to see now where it is coming from regarding recent came from not necessarily search engine as much. If I really want stats I go to aw-stats at the end of the month and look through all my referrer traffic.Either way I'm glad there is a light at the end of the tunnel of obsessive stat checking disorder. ![]() Quote:

I don't check my blog stats until I've read somewhere that people are checking theirs, LOL.

Patience is definitely key...in addition to patience, it takes work!
I think paying attention to your stats and where traffic comes from is very important. You may find yourself getting repeat traffic for a phrase that you never even considered which can then help you concentrate on targeting that phrase if its relevant.

I, too, was a stats addict! I feel better knowing I am not the only one.
Although, I do recognize and try to utilize the information I get from them, I try (white knuckles) not to check them repeatedly...One day at a time... I am so glad I found this forum when I did, or I may have gotten more discouraged. I am learning that patience is a virtue...but I have never been very good at patience. I know it is frustrating, and you want it to grow faster, but this forum is growing. I don't get over here as often as I like, but when I do, I can really see the growth.
