This is all really new to me. the whole Blogging experience.
last month I found the review section and requested a review, and was emailed to come here to these forums and post my links.
This is what was in my email:
Quote:
Join the forum and "SHOW OFF YOUR BLOG". I"m taking MOST of my free reviews from that pool. Just visit the forum in the link above; it's the top forum. Add your blog to it and your chances of a free review skyrocket.
So I joined.
Well, apparently things had been going under these alterations?
If I have offended anyone by posting my links in the "hello" section. I am sorry.

Being that I am really new at the whole idea of blogging, this sorta confuses me and I am not sure "what to do " next.

It would have been nice, that while being moderated, I could have been emailed, or, notified what I'd done wrong rather than suddenly finding my post was edited.

Frankly, I felt I was being punished.

Like I said, I am new to the forums here, and really new to the concept of blogging.

You may have 'bots' or whatever doing things, but what about the real people that just signed up here, following the advice of the email we recieved?

It never ceases to amaze me the things some people will do to try to game the system. I think that if they spent as much time on legitimizing their efforts as they do scamming & spamming, they might just make something of themselves. Dang, did that sound too 'mom-ly'? Geez...having kids does that to U...LOL

Hi Hoppa,

The email said to post in SHOW OFF YOUR BLOG so if you need 10 posts so be it . I would like to email everyone but a massive portion is bots, another portion knows what they are doing and doesn't care. If we spent time emailing everyone it would be an incredible waste of time.

Sad thing is occasionally there are cases like yours where it was an honest mistake. No offense was meant removing the links.

FWIW this Friday I plan writing a new welcome letter explaining all this as well as implementing a script I have installed here which just won't let you. That way it will frustrate bots and spammers. Legit users will know they can't and already should if they read the welcome.

Sorry for inconvenience but the only thing keeping places like this relevant is not letting spammers and link droppers take over. It's a constant battle

Thanks Rob for explaining this and ending my search for "signature". I thought for sure I was making a mistake

Oh noes! I just posted a link to my blog in my intro. If it gets removed, I will not cry or feel picked on after reading this, I promise.

Its an essential measure these days the spammers are not daft as soon as they know a forums sig links rank quickly they will be all over it like a rash other forums do suffer from such a bombardment which is a shame really.

Are referral links allowed in signatures?
Got a couple of programs I'm trying to promote.

That's really a cool move there Admin!
Myself, a forum admin sometimes find hard to keep a track on spammers.

Sometimes you gotta do that man...I think it's a good move, separates the leeches from those that truly want to be a part of the community.

Glad I found the place...or...err...you found me and I followed the link...or...whatever..

glad to be here
