Bloggeries Blog Forum Goes Search Engine Optimized!!!

Well I decided to bite the bullet. I love this forum and want it to one day be the premiere resource for bloggers out there who want to learn about promotion, basics and well everything and anything blog related. We're growing fast but we could be growing FASTER if we had Search Engine Optimized URL's.

To remedy this I just bought vBseo.

I must say I was very happy with the installation process; it was done hassle free and quite quickly might I add!

Basically it changes all my threads from:

Can you see the difference? If you read THIS THREAD you will be able to take full advantage of this site.

Yep, you may well take a dive for a bit to come out stronger the other side, well worth implementing from what I have heard from forum owners.

Definately expecting that and I am. I started a thread to track the results on another forum. I think I"ll add them to this thread as well.

Drop in rankings for a few reasons: One being it's getting rid of ALL duplicate content and it's reindexing with the SEO friendly URL's. I read depending on how active bots are on your site will determine the time. This place has bots on it 24/7 so I think it shouldn't take too long. Also I thought why not do it now when the forum is young instead of when it has TONES of pages to process.

Only time will tell but I thought why not. I don't believe in paid advertising much and try and avoid it. My philosophy is all the ad money I could spend I put into making this place better. Seems to be working we're having our first ever over 20,000 unique month. Woohooo.

One thing is certain; since installing vBSEO there has been an Increase in Search Engine Traffic to the Forum. The # of pages I have indexed has dropped as the SE's are reorganizing but all the new threads that got picked up with key word seo friendly url's are bringing in much more traffic. It's crazy some of the terms. So far very pleased with vBSEO and their support team.

Indexed pages in major search engines:

Yahoo: 9160 was 842

Google: 2500 was 1080

MSN: 7780 was 739

Threads: 1,587, Posts: 6,721, Members: 1,006, Active Members: 444

was

Threads: 279, Posts: 916, Members: 199, Active Members: 164

It has gone up considerably on all accounts however it has been a few months and the forum is much busier.

The search engine traffic which has increased most drastically is the wordpress theme related search queries. You'd be surprised what people search for regarding wordpress themes as well as whats in there to find it.

Was going to post this elsewhere then thought why not post it here? If I had to do it over again I would install vBSEO at this point.

Rob I must say your commitment to Bloggeries and the blogosphere is something to be admired. I for one would like to thank you for all your dedication.
