Blog Forum Reputation or Karma System

Hi everyone,

Now that the forum is starting to move in full stride I've implemented the "Reputation or Karma System". For some of the founding members and others who have helped contribute I've given each over 200 points . You start off with 10 rep points as a new member. The rep points are anonymous. If you want the member to know where it came from add your name at the end.

Basically:

Using the scales icon above each post to the right you can let users know if you like or dislike their post.

If you chose to keep your reputation hidden you can disable it in your control panel.

So do we just click on the icon, then select whether we approve or disapprove of that particular post? And that's it?

That's it!!! You don't have to just if someone does something you think is lame give them red. If someone says something you think is particularly good give em green!

Indeed I can see some peoples green increasing so I guess some people are using the system. Hopefully there will not be too many reds

The green blobs under your name are reputation. When someone clicks on the scale and chooses positive you get more points, when they choose red you lose points. It costs 1 point to give red's.

If someone joins and is a troll and gets a few negs there blocks turn red.

How fun. I had noticed in my "User CP" panel that I had a reputation. It has been a long time since I had a "reputation"! This one is much better.

I had to do a search to find this thread, and I am glad I did. Now, I know and can use it for those threads I really like. I also like how it costs a point to give the red. You really have to mean it...that is if you care about your own reputation.
