If you're looking for Blog Link Exchanges you should definitely start threads there. Be sure to use the niche or topic of your blog in the title so people know what you're all about. This will help you get more interest and hopefully the engines will pick it up.

OH, and just a heads up... you should work on some one way links so you rank a little better

Try some directory submission with your desired termS.

Basically if you want links you first have to build something others will link to. Everyone must spend a good while building a core blog / site with content so when they begin promoting people are open to exchanges.

If you do not do that first no one will be interested.

Other ways to build traffic and luckily 1 way links; forum signatures, social media sites and some relevant comments on other blogs. They are a great additional bonus for the traffic they will hopefully send.

Try submitting to dofollow social bookmarking sites... or even hold a blog contest and get some people to write blog posts...
