Fingers Crossed as I Request Reconsideration from Google

After noticing that none of my new posts have been showing up in Google (for a month now), I'm almost 90% sure that it's because my celebrity photo blog was going against Google's guidelines. In particular, I had put in ALT tags about a month ago that would most definitely look like hidden text. I didn't know that at the time, but I should have read the guidelines first!!!

So now I hope that Google will reconsider my site because living off queries from 1 month ago and referrals isn't very good for traffic

After modifying about 150 posts, I filled in the reconsideration form and submit it...fingers crossed!

Has anyone else here ever had their site reconsidered by Google? I'm interested in how long it'll take...if it's not automated it would take quite some time?

I don't have a clue, but I wish you luck. The requirements seem to change so often that it's hard to keep track of unless you're actively gaming the system.

The Google Webmaster Message Center gave me this message:

"We'll review the site. If we find that it's no longer in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines, we'll reconsider our indexing of the site. Please allow several weeks for the reconsideration request. We do review all requests, but unfortunately we can't reply individually to each request."

It could take a few months for your reinclusion request to be successful.

Some goolgle penalties are timed penalties, meaning that they will drop off after a certain amount of time has passed.

With that being said, I have seen some people write completely honestly about the mistakes that they have made that might have caused the penalty and G lifted the ban right away.

ALT tags looking like hidden text? Not quite sure what you mean, unless you were seriously tag spamming that is...

It took about 2-3 weeks for them to give me back a PR on one of my blogs. I have filed for reinclusion for another blog as well, a few days ago. I'll make sure to post how long it takes.

I don't think Google likes it if I have, say 10 images, each with ALT with the person's name. I didn't know ALT counted as hidden text, so I think I tag spammed
