I had bought a domain name for my blogspot blog on May 1st and I noticed that none of my new posts are showing up in google search engine queries (besides using site:mysite or posts prior to my domain name change, which still has the blogspot.com suffix)...it's quite annoying to start all over again
Am I correct to say that it takes about 2 months before a site shows up on the google search engine? The page rank was just updated recently, so I'm guessing I just missed that too ![]() Ugh...I guess that's why whenever someone posts on this forum for starting a new blog, buying a domain name is usually on the list...

Its definitely not two months. You may not get the keywords you want right away, but it will start showing up on google within 24 hours, as long as you submit it to them (can't remember how to do it off the top of my head, google it).
No, you probably won't have a pagerank, and I'm not sure how often that refreshes, but I'd assume it on a similar basis.

I can get a blog indexed within a couple of days. You really just have to make sure your pinging search engines with updates and posting like mad for a week or so.
You will have something indexed in less than 2 months for sure, then you can take it from there. Either way, getting your own domain name and having to start "over" is still worth having your own name. JMO |

It can show up way earlier. Don't fret you've made the move and learned from the experience. Keep intermingling with quality established sites and your blog will be crawled and indexed accordingly in no time.

In Wordpress there is a setting under Options - Privacy that says:
Make sure it is set to the right setting to allow the search engines. Privacy Options Blog visibility: I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

Remember whoever owns the domain you're using ... They really own the site.
