Page Rank & Linking and SEO Soup

I found something quite interesting in doing research -

Point 1 - it is often stated that Flash is not looked upon from google as anything important - things should be text based, content is king

Point 2 - Linking is part of the entire pagerank rage

Content & Linking drives up page rank -

Oddly I have run into several sites, one with a PR5 - the entire front page is flash, within the content of the site is flash - not alot of text or content what so ever (imo)

I checked out the incoming links - google shows 9, yahoo shows 151

Wouldn't this refute that?

How did you come up with the link totals?

Google's info is unreliable.

Did you use site explorer for yahoo?

The best I could guess would be there are always anomalies or other instances that are far from the norm which usually self correct themselves within an update or so.

I did use both google and yahoo site search - I belive what Rob said is so appropriate, it's a constant changing recipe. This one just plainly brings that to the forefront.

Just to add to the discussion: the age of the domain can also affect PR. That's why some webmasters purchase domain names and sit on them a while before bringing them live.

I have a total flash site at DesignAndPromote.com from before I knew better about flash and SEO. Later I made sure I included a paragraph of text below the flash and of course in the meta tags to help get me listed. I would view the html source of your site in question to get the whole scoop.
