Agree that you can use it to network with the "A-Listers", but apart from knowing them more personally it's not very useful for business or blog promoting purposes.

Well, here's the thing... I'm sure you guys know Garry Conn, he checked out my blog and liked one of my posts so he linked it to all his friends. Nothing drastic, but I got double digit visitors that day which isn't bad!

Just watch when ProBlogger or Doshdosh links you... that would be crazy!
