I find if I get LOTS of social media traffic I have a stupid high bounce rate. I guess same applies to most though

I was thinking about the question and took a look at my bounce rates on Google Analytics. I think the lowest was a video site I have and that's at 66 percent. However I was looking at the average "Time on Site" for all visitors which is about 1:33. I would think that this would be more important than a bounce rate. Because you have to take in consideration how people are getting to your site. If I post a link here in my signature someone might briefly go to my site and then exit. It could be from poor design, not having the content they are looking for or they just wanted to take a quick peek. Having a well developed site, good content and layout is going to keep visitors around longer.
Think about going over to someone's house and visiting. If the house is a mess, the kids are crying, boring coversation.... you're going to bounce much quicker! lol So anyone know what a good average "Time on Site" is? |

One of my sites has a 30% bounce rate (Brand Product Domain Website Business Name Generator my Brand new Brand - thought it does encourage click throughs).
Usually it's between 50% and 70%. It depends if you target your audience well or not. Ironically, the 70% gets by far the most traffic.

I checked the forum today and it has a bounce rate of 35.67%! It's also the highest traffic part of the website which is a good thing; I got stumbled and as a result overall bounce has risen slightly over 60% again.

I have two blogs, 3 months old:
A Japanese Pop music blog (reviews, lyrics, randomness, etc.): 64.69% A work-safe Asian photo blog: 50.59% The Asian photo blog was originally designed for experimental purposes, since photo blogs are popular and usually result in a higher average page views, which I assume, results in longer visits, and thus lowers your bounce rate. However, since my blogs are only 3 months old, my statistics aren't as accurate as mature blogs (in terms of extrapolation) >_< |

54% bounce rate. Fine by me, as long as they comment I'm all good
