There isn’t anything in there besides the CPU that you could permanently ruin. I took a class in college, the first night of class we completely took our computers apart. We took every component out of the tower and re-installed it in one evening.

I've bent a few CPU pins, thankfully it was when working in a factory making the things, so none of them were mine

Oh I bet, lol. The first time I changed a hard drive and power switch, I was actually helping my mom do it. I knew more about computers, but she knew more about electrical stuff, so we were sorta winging it since neither of us had really been inside a computer in depth before. She was talking all this stuff that sounded like gibberish to me at the time about grounding herself, avoiding shock, and preventing it from frying....she had me so nervous that we were going to blow up the precious computer I didn't think I could live without, lol.

I would have been crying if I would have bent the pins on my own computer.

Didn't think you could live without? I KNOW I can't live without it. Hello My name is Rob and I'm a computer addict. Wow I feel like that's off my chest .

I am aware of static I used to open it up on carpet wearing socks. Bad idea.

I've bent plenty of monitor pins switching it up when I had 2 pc's one monitor. I was quite distraught to say the least. This is when CRT monitors were not only huge in size but also in price tag.

Well I was only like 14 or 15 at the time.....I wasn't quite to the point of addiction yet. *Now* I am. Well, more so the internet than simply my computer, but I definitely know the feeling. My mom made fun of me a couple months ago when I called her in tears because my internet had been out all day and I was going insane. She has 'no' idea just how bad it is. :S

Modified Cars is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Installing RAM in your MotherBoard

In this part of the world (South Africa), a complete pre-built system is a complete rip off. Fortunately I've got dealer licences at various component distributors so I'm always buying components and putting them together. Now it's like fitting sparkplugs for me, though I'd still rather work on my car.
