Why do you blog?

Hi; Blog writing is a great way to share information. What is the number one reason why you write your blog? What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? regards, JD

You go right to the heart of the matter don't you. From this flows all else....Sorry to wax philosophical. I am prone to that on occasion.

Aah, but, you asked a question didn't you? Why do I blog?

My first and only blog so far was started as a vehicle to let people know me as a jewelry artist.

I quit my job last fall to pursue my dream. I have been making beaded micro macrame jewelry for about 10 years now, selling enough to buy more beads. My dream is to make jewelry full time, and hopefully support myself at it. It would be heaven for me to get paid for something I love so much to do.

In my search for a venue, I stumbled across Etsy. It is a wonderful site providing a market place for all items hand made.

But no one knew me. Unfortunately, there are many scammers out there, so people are understandably leary of buying from someone they do not know. So I started a blog to tell people who I am, what I do, how I create. I write of my hopes, successes, struggles, and failures as they pertain to my jewelry art. Also, many people who buy hand made items want the story that goes with it. It gives depth to the item. I hope to give them that story. I showcase my current work, to promote it and to illustrate the design process. Hopefully, I show how one thing flows from another. Occasionally I write about my cats. After all, they like string, too.

I have loved blogging so much, I am now considering another blog.

I was just thinking this, if you are passionate bout something blogging is a medium that allows less tech savy people a means to get established on the internet. I believe blogs are still a NEW phenomenom and this is seriously the ground floor.

I am one of those less tech savvy people. Blogging has opened me up to the internet in so many ways. I have a new addiction now. Like I needed another one!

Great Answer and welcome to the Bloggeries Forum. 4 years that is such a long time to be blogging. You are one of the first to adopt and keep going. Congrats for that. I'm going to open a podcasting section here soon. I think there is a demand for it.

Me, too. I keep hoping to have some time for blog reading, and for reading and posting here, too. I'm stealing a few moments now from all the tasks I should be getting done.
