Bit Torrent is one of those areas that are extremely popular with internet users, but a "no go" zone for advertisers. Well, going on unbeaten paths can have its advantages too. Recently I tried to promote my blog contest through Mininova's CD system. The traffic spike was relatively low (the highest per day directly attributed to BT was 150 visitors), so I really think that this method could be improved. So... can anyone give some suggestions on how this could be done? Remember that this is an experimental area, so no matter how far fetched your idea might seem, don't hesitate to share it. Anyway, the contest is about discovering the password to an archived text file. The clues to what they keyphrase is are to be found in the posts on my blog. Basically I uploaded the file to Mininova together with 2 ebooks from the public domain (the first clue) and watched the traffic come in. The exposure was achieved through the limited front page presence on Mininova and by gaming the torrent category listing. I also tried artificial keywords, but that backfired, so I dumped this technique. Regards, George |

Oh just read the post. Sorry I didn't see the link somehow. Really cool idea. I think if you do this weekly or monthly it could become pretty huge. There might not be any changes necessary.
