We could start something like this here... Any suggestions?

I think it's a great idea! I've been doing it over there. Tomorrow is the first day my blog will actually be up for others to post on. I think that, not only would it help drive traffic to all of our blogs, but it would help draw new members to the site! Just my 2 cents...

| I also think that's a good idea.. just like what sadie said.. to think that there are lots of members here who need comments to their blogs..

I have "do follow" blogs and would love to see a similar set up for "do follow" blogs. I do not remember who quoted Matt Cutts but I was told that when asked Matt said that a well moderated "do follow" blog would be a bonus to the web. I agree whole heartedly.

It might not be nice to steal someone else's idea, but as it is the comment exchange has a few small problems with it. Things like: "Uh, I have to comment on another post about celebrities/tv shows I've never seen/baby photos/cat photos" You could try instead to have a pool of URLs, and the top three contributers to the forum that week earn themselves a bunch of comments. And to be included in the next week's running, you have to have commented on the lucky blogs in the previoius week. Motivation.

Yeah, stealing the exact same idea isn't the great plan, but creating something on your own that has a similar output wouldn't be bad. The thing is, it's going to take some time to get going and keep up on.....so you're going to need some helpers to do it.

Forumfinder is my site, the comment exchange at forumfinder has been a great feature and it does indeed produce comments. Ferox is a regular member and contributor to the exchange as well. We also just added a weekly comment exchange, which might be easier for some of the members, it contains between 5-10 blogs in a category, each week a new category is featured and the members have a week to leave comments on the blogs within that category. All are welcome to come over and check us out, if you have any questions, someone is always around and willing to give a new member a helping hand. NOTE: Registration is required to even view the forum's, this is because we take the protection of our members serious and we have had problems in the past and it has made this step necessary for us. |

one of the best ways to attract comments is to become a DoFollow blog. You will attract riff-raff with the good stuff, but I have found that the time it takes to delete cookie-cutter comments is nothing compared to the time it would take to drum up the real comments that come with it.

-------- Regarding a comment thread here: That thing has a login so I'm not sure what it's all about. What I had in mind was a thread where you comment on the blog on top and then mention which blog in sig you'd like a them to read and comment. Repeat. That could work; thoughts?
