Default Do subdomains change your main domain's pagerank?

I have a domain for my established main blog, say www .mydomain.com... It has a pagerank of 6. Mydomain.com points to www .mydomain.com.

I just started some new blogs on tumblr (e.g. news.tumblr.com and others.tumblr.com) and yesterday had them pointing to subdomains of my main blog, (e.g. news.mydomain.com and others.mydomain.com).

The new blogs are not pageranked yet, and I doubt they would - by themselves - hit PR6 as the main blog. say that after some time, they get PR3 and PR4.

Now do those subdomain's Pageranks influence in any way (up or down) the pagerank of the main blog? Either while they are NOT ranked, or while they are ranked less than the main blog?

(I used fictional examples for the domain as I know how much Rob hates hidden selfpromotion -joke)

They can only improve your page rank, if they get numerous links of their own, and then link back to your main domain. Otherwise, having subdomains does not reduce the PR of your main domain.

They will not affect the pagerank of your main domain at all.

Don't forget that if you get one of those sub domains slapped by google for spamming or anything like that your whole domain block will get banned not just the sub domain.
