Title says it all people; comment where it counts!

What do I mean by this? I mean when you are starting out comment on some very busy blogs.

I was into CUIL.com as it was another search engine and well I love search engines. I left a comment about how I didn't like it on statcounter.com 's blog. Checked my stats yesterday 311 visits from 1 comment about #20 down the list.

You CAN get traffic just on big blogs make a real legit comment and don't make it a spammy name. Just make it something that looks natural.

Just thought I'd share as getting 311 visits in a month from ANY SOURCE is; well; awesome!?

Wasn't one day maybe a few weeks. Leave your 2 cents in busy niche places because it's where all the people who actually care about that kind of thing are already hanging out. I mean what brought you there in the first place?

Yeah exactly. It is something I am going to make a concentrated effort to do from now on. Not Spam them or anything though.

I agree with this 100%. If bloggers say this is a waste of time, they are the ones not getting extra traffic from little work.

Commenting on the blogs related to yours is the key, but you also want to make sure the traffic is there for that blog, as well.

My recent test on ShoeMoney.com shows about 40-50 to my blog per month, just from commenting my two cents on his posts 2-3 times per week. It might seem like nothing, but there are MANY readers there. 40-50 are a small %, but it's a nice number for the amount of work to get the traffic.

If I even get ONE more email subscriber from this technique, I think it's worth it.

I also use this type of thing to promote, and get links, my BANS sites. It's an easy and cheap way to get "out there"...

It's a powerhouse for sure. I know someone who used to get MOST of their traffic from that site.

And you never know when that 1-2% who signup / action are going to come so the more the merrier. Thanks for reminding me been a while sine I"ve dropped a note on the Shoeman.

I'd agree. I comment on relevant blogs and have gotten both traffic from the comments as well as the blog owner doing a small feature or adding me to their blog roll. It is really a useful thing - plus you see what else is going on in the blog world.
